Personal Development
Personal Development
At Earlham, we recognise that education extends beyond the classroom. We therefore provide a wide range of opportunities for children to explore, discover, and engage with the world around them. Our carefully designed personal development curriculum aims to empower pupils, promote strong values, and equip them with the skills and confidence needed for future success.
Enrichment Experiences
Our educational visits give children the chance to take part in experiences they might not otherwise encounter. These trips are thoughtfully planned to broaden their horizons and enhance learning. From theatre performances and museum visits to art galleries and outdoor adventure activities, each experience enriches the curriculum and makes learning more meaningful and memorable.
Music & Creativity
We value the important role music plays in fostering creativity, self-expression, and teamwork. Our specialist music teacher delivers engaging weekly lessons, ensuring every child can participate and develop their musical skills.
Our music offer includes instrumental clubs, choir, and opportunities to perform both in school and within the local community. In addition, children can explore their creative interests through a variety of clubs such as drama, filmmaking, sewing, and robotics.
We are committed to ensuring that all pupils can experience the arts, including theatre, music, dance, and performance, through regular visits and workshops with visiting artists. We believe every child should have access to these cultural opportunities.
Physical Wellbeing
We understand the vital role physical activity plays in promoting health, teamwork, and resilience. Our specialist sports teacher leads dynamic weekly lessons designed to build skills and encourage a lifelong enjoyment of sport.
Children can also take part in a variety of lunchtime and after-school sports clubs, as well as competitions throughout the year. Our annual Sports Day provides an opportunity for pupils to celebrate their achievements in an inclusive and enjoyable setting.
Global Citizens
We are committed to nurturing thoughtful and responsible global citizens. Through a range of activities, children learn to engage with their community, contribute positively to their local area, and develop an awareness of social responsibility and civic pride.
Character & Leadership
Our school values support children in becoming confident, caring, and responsible individuals. We provide a range of opportunities for leadership, collaboration, and reflection, enabling pupils to develop the qualities they need to succeed in life.
Leadership opportunities include:
- School Council: Giving pupils a voice and the opportunity to contribute to school decision-making.
- Playground Buddies: Supporting peers during playtimes, encouraging positive friendships and helping to resolve conflicts.
British Values
We actively promote fundamental British values such as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect. Pupils are encouraged to take part in discussions and debates, developing the confidence to express their views while respecting others.
